Mission statement
The Global Food Security Forum will address the mounting challenge of feeding a growing world population, and assuring food security for the most vulnerable, in an environmentally, socially and economically sustainable fashion. It will bring together a high-level and multi-disciplinary group of experts, leaders, practitioners and stakeholders from North and South for frank debate and action-oriented collaboration to identify and support promising innovations, approaches and partnerships to assure food security at the local, national and global levels. The Forum will focus in particular on the crucial role of innovation and investment in creating the conditions for sustainable, locally-appropriate solutions to the food security challenge.
The inaugural meeting of the Global Food Security Forum, to be held in Rabat, Morocco from March 7-9, 2012, will launch a larger Global Food Security Initiative designed to advance and support specific initiatives and partnerships for action emerging from the Forum. The Global Food Security Forum is an initiative of the OCP Group, a Moroccan multinational corporation, global leader in the phosphate fertilizer sector. It is a major contributor to global food security through the production and export of phosphate-based fertilizers and related products, which provide essential nutrients to food crops and help rebuild healthy soils. OCP is keen to support the creation of a solutions-focused and neutral platform for debate about food security across the globe, inviting all stakeholders to contribute. |
