Why the Global Food Security Forum?
The Global Food Security Forum seeks to tackle, in an innovative way, the mounting challenge of feeding a growing world population while assuring food security for the most vulnerable. By confronting a wide range of perspectives, leveraging proven on-the-ground solutions, and capitalizing on the power of interactivity, this unique South-originated Forum will help identifying local solutions and promoting concrete actions to address the food security challenge.
This first edition of the Global Food Security Forum, to be held on March 7-9 2012 in Morocco, will bring together a group of key stakeholders from around the world for an action-oriented and solutions-focused debate. Participants will include experts, decision-makers and opinion leaders from a wide range of scientific, technical and policy fields, encompassing the academic, NGO, policy, investment and business communities.
The Forum will have a strong South-orientation, focusing on local aspects of global food security issues and on tailored solutions developed and implemented by "on-the-ground" actors.
The goal of the Global Food Security Forum is not only to foster a vigorous debate, but also to build a global and durable community of stakeholders to take action on food security. The GFSF is only the first step.
Due to high level of interest, there are no more places available at the inaugural meeting of the Global Food Security Forum.
